A Day in Duluth and Superior

We had a leisurely start to our so-called "day off".  Went to Julie's family restaurant a short drive from our motel.  Gordon had poached eggs on toast, accompanied by toast, bacon hash browns, and two enormous pancakes!  I was much more delicate with a cheese and ham omelette and toast that looked like toast but that tasted like English muffin.  Delicious.  We all had the bottomless cup of coffee.  Afterwards, we went to the Pattison Mansion Museum for an excellent guided tour from Jane.  By that time it was after 11 am so Helen and I dropped the boys back at the motel for a rest, and we found a laundromat.  I walked a few blocks (huge blocks in this part of the country!) to get some cash. Had to use the drive through ATM as there are none in the actual banks.  We returned with our clean clothes and then found The Anchor, a very local hamburger joint.  Delicious burgers and a couple of us might have ordered a beer (Fat Tire from Colorado).    After lunch we dropped the boys off at  the Eagle's Nest spa for a massage.  Helen and I then drove around some of the residential streets of Duluth.  Huge old houses some of which reminded me of upper Westmount in Montreal.  Then we found the gorgeous park which follows along the shoreline.  Wow!  Dinner tonight was back at Julie's.  An early night is called for.  Rain has hit and we are a bit discouraged.
