Quite a day today. We all thought it would be an easy 100 km ride but our riders were faced with an 18 km headwind. They arrived at our meeting point in Duluth pretty exhausted. But it was noon and we were at a Mcdonalds so what the heck, we all bulked up! Remember, taking care of these boys takes energy too!! After lunch we drove together to our less than stunning motel close to the shores of Lake Superior. To give you a picture, Duluth sits on the "nose" of the lake . Motel is dated but clean and the walking paths along the lake are lovely. The breeze off the lake is really cold but the sun is shining . We are at an amazing port city. More tomorrow but here are some pictures, mostly of our restaurant experience tonight at Hammonds.
This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!
