Dinner was at a restaurant called Horfrost. A little different from the norm. We were the only ones there!
This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!

Portage La Prairie--Afternoon and Evening
Helen and I left the riders resting up and chilling out watching soccer on TV. We headed out to explore Portage. We quickly found Crescent Lake which really is a lake but looks like a river! There is a paved trail along the edge and the whole area is really pretty. Right away we saw a flock of large white birds with black tips on their wings. They looked like pelicans and it turned out that they were! Lots of Canada geese as well but with their babies so it was OK! Helen walked the pathway and I had a small turn on my bike. Quite hot but it was nice to feel the sun for a change. All along this lake on the other side of the road are houses and neighbourhoods. Some historical homes. Afterwards, we found the old railway station which is being restored.
