This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!

Saint John here we come.
Woke up to a nice day. Sunny with a light wind out of the SW. Gordon, Andrew and I left Pam and Peter's at about 7:15. We crossed the bridge at Gagetown over to the west side of the Saint John river and turned to go south. It was a pretty bike ride with lots of up and down hills but not too big. There are really no towns and certainly no place for a picnic. At about 70 KM we arrived at the Avondale ferry where there is a nice restaurant. We all ordered a full breakfast and it was very good. Madge, Souhaila and Olin joined us and we had a nice break. Souhaila got into her biking gear and we all headed off on the ferry. As we got off the ferry we were faced with a killer hill. Not fair. We had a nice ride over to the Belle Isle ferry and then a nice ferry ride. At the other side Madge and Olin met us with their feet dangling in the water. Then a fairly long ride across the Kingston peninsula. We stopped at a store in Kingston and got some drinks, then off to the Gondola Point ferry. As we crossed Madge and Olin were on the returning ferry. I guess they went back and forth. We turned right and biked along the Kennebecasis river to Lynn and Lorne's. It was a very pretty ride. It was very humid and hot but we arrived in good shape. It was fun to arrive at the top of the driveway and see the river spread out before you and of course their beautiful house. After a hot tub on the deck and a shower it was time for drinks. After a great salmon dinner we were off to bed. We looked forward to a day off.
