This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!

St. Basilie to Florenceville
Gordon and I left at about 7:30. It was a bit cool to start but the day got hotter. The wind was favourable and we had a good time riding the old road through all the little villages. We stopped in Grand Falls at the McDonalds and had the usual McMuffin and coffee. Olin, Madge and Souhaila caught up to us at about 70 KM where Sou joined us. The road was bumpy but little traffic, however the wind was shifting to the south so we started to fight it. We ignored a detour sign that said the road ahead was under construction so we could not get to the bridge at Perth Andover. After 8 KM Madge doubled back and said not to continue. So we retraced our steps at a cost of about 14 KM. So anyway we set off to meet Madge and Olin at Perth Andover. It was long rolling hills, wind in our face and getting hot. We arrived at 1:15 for a great picnic beside the river. Fresh New Brunswick rolls etc. Gordon and I set off as Sou decided to stay in the truck. The last two hours were a little tough: lots of hills and the wind in our face. We averaged about 22 KM as it was hard to do more. Got to the hotel where we had a swim etc and now feel much better. Madge and I are off in a few minutes to pick up Andrew. A good day if a little harder than we had originally thought.
