A perfect day off! Souhaila, Olin and Gordon took advantage of the calm water by going for a kayak ride on the river. Lynn and I prepared a breakfast of champions, and Ward and Andrew saw to the cleaning and oiling of the bikes. We emptied the truck and got it vacuumed out and re-loaded. Olin practiced his violin on the dock with Lorne looking on. Then Lorne took him out in the zodiac. Long was getting very used to this life! After breakfast, the boys watched the last 4 km of the Tour de France. Laundry got done. Lynn had prepared a feast to take on our boat ride. Had a great time swimming off the boat with Caleb, Sedona and Cory. By then it was slack tide and Lorne was able to navigate us across the reversing falls into Saint John harbour. A wonderful afternoon. Back for a fun evening of more food and drink. Ian joined us. A perfect evening ensued with no wind. Olin had had a big day so it was early dinner followed by lighting the fire pit to toast marshmallows. We all had sweet dreams of a very full but relaxing day with the Bretts.
This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!
