This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!

Kamouraska
Marlie and Tom left us this morning from Levis. We had a great time with them. Good food, good wine and good conversations. However Souhaila got in at about 11:00 PM and Olin was really pleased to see her in the morning. We got away from Levis at about 7:30. Sou decided to stay behind for the morning so she could spend some time with Olin. The sky was overcast but good for biking. The road is good and we had lots of views of the St. Lawrence. The farmland is really vast and seems very fertile. Lots of little farm villages. Gordon and I stopped at a McDonalds in Montmagny and had an egg McMuffin and a coffee. Fuel for elite cyclists. We stopped in L'Islet and looked at an old ice breaker and the hydro foil ship called the Bras D'or. Very interesting. It then started to rain which put a little damper on things. We met Madge, Olin and Souhaila in Saint Roche and had a nice lunch in a café. I had a great vegetable soup and beans, fruit and a boiled egg. The dish was called an assiette Quebecoise. Souhaila joined us for the last 45 Km which was fun. Nice to have another rider. The rain came back with a vengeance and we got pretty wet. As we came into Kamouraska the fog came in and the temperature dropped. Anyway the motel is nice and seems like a couple of nice restaurants. Off to New Brunswick tomorrow.
