This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!

St. Jerome to trois Rivieres
This ride was terrific, a beautiful sunny day with a strong mostly west wind. Once out of the city we were on a road with a nice shoulder and light traffic. The area is a all beautiful farm country with corn, potatoes, sod, market vegetables and grain but who knows what. I do not know my grains. We passed little farming villages and pretty houses. Quebecois keep their homes nicer than we Anglos do. We stopped at a little diner and had a fried egg sandwich with bacon and cheese. With coffee the price was $11. Gordon and I got ahead of the back up group . We stopped at 120 KM at St something or other at a Casse Croute. While waiting we had a small frites. The troops showed up and we had another great picnic. Marlie then got on her bike and the three of us pushed on. The ride was really nice. It was fun to have a third rider. Three rivers is actually named after one river the St. Maurice which at its mouth hits two islands and hence splits in three. It has nothng to do with the St. Lawrence. Look it up. The motel was a little dumpy but clean, the people nice and we got our laundry done for free. A short walk downtown to a street festival. It was fun people watching. We got a table on the terrace so we could watch the action. Dinner was really good, I had frog legs. Olin tried them. A great day.
