Trois Rivieres to Levis

We got away at 7:30 but as we only had a 140 KM ride it was not a problem.  Marlie of course joined us, so we were the three amigos.  After a grueling three KM's we stopped for coffee and pain au chocolate.  Being much refreshed off we went.  This is terrific bike ride: great scenery, light traffic, wide shoulder.  Not to mention that the wind was behind us.  It does not get better than this.  We decided to stop for a chien chaude and the back up gang caught us in the act.  So much for nutrition.  We quickly ordered three more.  Olin devoured his.  Marlie said it was the best hot dog she ever had.  The finely chopped cabbage is really good.  We had a picnic right beside the Fleuve St. Laurent which was very pretty.  we rode by the river a lot of the time: what views.  Truly a great ride.  After lunch we pushed on to Quebec city.  It does start to get a little hilly after a flat plane.  On the outskirts of St. Foy, a  burb of Quebec city, we dropped down to the shore and picked up the bike trail system.  It is really something to experience.  Bluffs to your left (remember Wolf and Montcalm) river to your right and lots of people enjoying themselves.  Why do not more cities put in this infrastructure.  We then hit a couple of killer hills and Marlie was a trooper.  No complaints just kept going.  Then we got to the ferry to Levis.  How civilized: a place for bikers to line up and bike racks on the ferry.  A nice man took a picture of the three of us with the chateau as a backdrop.  To greet us was Olin and Madge.  Very cute.  Marlie wisely walked up the hill with Madge and Olin while Gordon and I went up a very steep hill.  At the top was our B & B which is very nice with a great view.  I am looking at the Chateau.  Another great meal at a restaurant a block away.  I had a red deer burger with frites.  Off to bed.
