It's the usual 5:30 am wake up time. Another stunningly lovely morning. I forgot to mention that yesterday we passed a number of farms where Mennonites were living. They seemed very traditional with horses and buggies and the fields were being plowed without modern machinery. Gisela and Joe would have been pleased to see this.
It's Thursday and we are on our way to Sudbury. Helen and I deviate from the route for a quick visit to Betsy and Richard at their cottage at Whitefish Falls. Stunning views of the North Channel, as usual. Onwards then for picnic lunch beside the Spanish River. Take Helen for a short tour of Copper Cliff and the super stack and a short stop at Golden Grain Bakery before landing at Mila's house! She is awake so we get to hold the little bundle right away. Afterwards we girls load into the car and drive out along the route to intercept the riders. They are pretty pleased to see us. We have a lovely evening with the proud parents. A steak BBQ with fresh asparagus, potatoes, and beautiful lettuce from Linda's (Lori's mother) garden.
This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!
