This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!

Petawawa to Ottawa
Our days are full of activity and ther is little time to update the log. Travelled through lovely farming countryside today. We crossed the OttawaRiver just below Pembroke, a series of damns, to Qubec. We were intrigued to be able to drive across the damns! Olin was able to bike around in a person's big yard while we waited for the bikers. Gail and John and Autumn found us at lunchtime at Quyon. Nice park with playground right beside the ferry dock. It was wonderful to be with our Ottawa family. Olin was Autumn's shadow. John joined Olin and me for the drive over the Champlain Bridge and into the park on the other side. There we waited for our bikers to arrive. Ward generously suggested that I might like to ride the rest of the way to our hotel along with Gordon and Olin, which was along the bike path running along the Ottawa River behind Parliament Hill and then down the Rideau Canal. Ward drove in the car with John and had most of the luggage unloaded when we got in. And what a glorious ride we had! A few drops of rain did not deter us. We found the hot tub and pool at our Cartier Suites Hotel on Cooper Street. Autumn joined us. Afterwards, a short walk in the pouring rain brought us to John and Gail's condo where Gail provided a gorgeous dinner and also laundry facilities! Michael, Angela, Ben and Maya and Paula and Autumn were there too. Olin was delighted to have cousins to play with! What a day!
