This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!

Petawawa to Ottawa
Petawawa is a crappy military town. Motel not bad and there was a little beach near by. Dinner was truly awful. I did not know you could put so much cheese on all the dishes. Gordon got ill and left. The waitress was really nice. She has 5 kids and a part time job and a military husband. We left the next day on time with fairly good weather. We passed Pembroke and thought of Charlie and Erin who come from there. We crossed the Ottawa over to Quebec at Fort something or other. It got quite hot in the afternoon. We saw a car stopped and they all waved and cheered us but we did not know who they were. They stopped ahead and we stopped and they were Andreas a life long friend of Matthew and the Hoppers and two of his children, Ella and Henry. They were very enthusiastic. It was so nice of them to take the time to cheer us on. We were really pleased. It was a pretty ride into Ottawa and we crossed on the Champlain bridge into Ottawa. I drove with John to our hotel while Madge, Olin and Gordon bicycled on the trails to the hotel. They beat us as the traffic was really bad. We had a great dinner hosted by John and Gail. It was nice to see Michael, Angela, Ben and Mia as well as Paula and Autumn. The hotel was very nice and close to John and Gail.
