This is the story of how boring people can sometimes do exciting things. In this case father and son are going to bike across Canada in what will be either a great bonding experience or a lengthy estrangement. We are lucky enough to have Madge to support us on this ride and to be joined by Andrew, Souhaila, Marlie, Tom and Helen (And Olin of course). May we be strong of body and mind and may the wind be forever at our backs!

SSM to Blind River
We left Soo Michigan at 7:00, cloudy and quite cool. The ride over the bridge to Canada was really neat. Great view of locks and town. The border person was nice and off we went. We stopped into see Joanne and Alice which was really fun. Nice to see them again. We took 17B which was pretty good but eventually met up with Hwy 17 which is pretty ugly. The shoulder is about 18 inches and sometimes none. We also hit construction where the pavement had been stripped and was all bumpy. This went on for about 10 KM. However glad to have a shoulder and most trucks really tried to get over so with a following wind we did quite well. Weather improved as it became warmer and sunny. Potato and leek soup in Bruce Mines was a treat and off again. We had lots of views of the North Channel and a fun run into Blind River. Motel is great and Betsy and Richard are going to join us for dinner. Yahoo.
